cover4Jo is a brave and beautiful woman. Her story is a must-read for anyone battling depression.” –┬áJESSICA ROWE

When I wrote this story, I made a pact with myself that it would be ‘warts and all’. I didn’t want to gloss over important issues.” – JO FINCHAM

Jo’s autobiography, Out of the Blue started as a healing tool to help her overcome my long battle with a debilitating eating disorder and depression. After a friend of Jo’s asked if she could read her story, she was quick to state she felt it could help many people suffering similar health and mental issues. After some hesitation, Jo agreed to give it to an editor at a top publushing house to read. Her story was published and quickly reached #3 in Australia in the category of non-fiction. It stayed there for 5 weeks and is still selling steadily today.

Jo’s book gives the reader an insight into what it’s like to deal with an eating disorder, depression and other mental issues. It also documents Jo’s appearance on a top-rating national reality television program, The Farmer Wants a Wife, in which she appeared at the height of her troubles. It is a heart-warming story of finding her husband in front of a nation, moving from Melbourne to country South Australia to live on a beef cattle and sheep farm, and how love really can conquer all.

This is a story of how Jo tackled her demons, found love and created a new, healthy, happy life free from mental illness. It’s a story of how life on the land can heal and nurture you.

Inspiring, warm and fiercely honest, this is a wonderful personal account of overcoming adversity and making the most of life. Jo is a motivational speaker and regularly talks in schools and corporate companies on the subject of mental health and is also a Blue Voice for Australia’s leading mental health initiative, Beyond Blue.
